A long and deserved slumber later, the household began to stir and as it was a day off there wasn't a great deal of activity planned for the next few hours at least. Breakfast was about the one and only priority of the moment and as the day was particularly fine, we found ourselves wandering down to the beach for a bit of a look around.
Given the fine day and clear(ish) skies one could be forgiven for thinking it was the height of summer. No one was game to go for a swim though.
We didn't have to get Drew to the airport until early evening so there was no rush as far as getting organised went. We slowly got it together and ventured around the corner to mum's to continue the recovery. By about 4pm we had shaken off most of the sloth and decided we should go into town for a quick look before we saw Drew off. We had arranged with Jane to meet up at Macquarie St for a quiet evening of Doctor Who and veging out.

Drew, Spike, Glendi and I headed off into town while Jen thought better of it and stayed at Dodge's Ferry. Finally feeling a little peckish we headed for the docks and a big feed of fish and chips. Scrummy. We hung out around Constitution Dock until the last crumbs of seafood had found their destiny and decided to take a look at The Lark Distillery. While the lads got into a tippling test I decided to be conservative and down a coffee and watch what the chamber ensemble were doing up the back of the shop.
Unfortunately, they weren't that good. A bit of a rehearsal I would guess. We whiled away the time until it was time to get Drew to the airport. I would take Drew out while Spike and Glendi wandered up to Macquarie St.
I dropped Drew off and headed back into town. I was looking forward to a bit of Dr Who and the chance just to lounge around on the couch. And that is exactly the approach. By the time we got to 10pm we were all too stuffed from Brookfield, so we called it a night and headed back to Carlton Beach. We had the last radio interview at EDGE FM around midday tomorrow so an early night wouldn't go astray. We sat out on the deck for a while and then turned in.

The Sunday was another pearler of a day. We had certainly been lucky on this tour. The weather so far had been mostly fine and warmish. It was decided that Glendi and I would do the interview while Jen and Spike soaked up the good weather from Dodge's Ferry. Glendi and I made it in to the Uni, met up with Roger and went straight into the studio.
We did the usual Q & A bit and played through a couple of songs and had a right old chat about music, performance and presentation. We were not the only one's to notice some of our mistakes on Friday night. The impetus to address some of the things we had been talking about ramped up and we thought we may as well attack some of them at rehearsal later on.

On the way back to Dodge's Ferry we stopped at a couple of book shops in Sandy Bay and I managed to find A Terrible Beauty, Richard Flanagan's out of print debut and a couple of other prize baubles. I had already found the books that I'd wanted to find while I was here but now I had made some inroads into my wish list of items that I figured I would be unlikely to procure just on a casual browse. My treasure chest of Tasmaniana was looking very full and I found myself daydreaming about what I may find as I perused through this lot when I got home.
Glendi and I arrived back and we all headed to Carlton Beach and put in a couple of hours of rehearsal and then cruised back to mum's for dinner. It was another quiet evening as we tucked into the chocolate pudding and homemade icecream and then stretched out in front of the telly for a dose of Midsomer Murders.
Tomorrow we would have a day in town just shopping and cruising through the city. We had done a bit of this at times during the tour but this was only the second day that we had put aside for this activity and there was so much to suss out in Hobart and surrounds that a day really isn't long enough. But it would have to be long enough for us.
As Spike and Glendi and I sat out on the deck at Carlton Beach we chatted about the tour, music, and the moments that would live beyond the tour. We felt we had made some inroads towards our return in January and that we had a chance to make a bit bigger noise next time around. We still had the Republic Bar in front of us and we tossed around some ideas for the gig. We had a plan forming.
There was also going to be a lunar eclipse and possibly a blood moon just before we would start playing.
Eventually we took our leave and one by one made our way towards our respective beds. It was hard to believe that by the end of the week all this would be over and we would all be back in Melbourne again.
