St. Helena is known world wide for its history and preservation of the Gullah tradition. It is home to the historic Penn Center and is the praised yearly for its Annual Heritage day event. St. Helena will make headlines once again as a talented young man storm onto the scene. This upcoming artist that is taking the low country by storm is no other than the JB. This artist has been in striving since 2003. JB along with a speedy growing audience say that it is his ultimate goal to strengthen Hip Hop and add a new flavor to the mainstream music industry. This independent artist has made quite a name for himself. He has opened for artist such as Killa Mike, Pastor Troy, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mobb, and DJ Unk. He holds the record on 94.1 The Beat for being the Underground Champ five consecutive weeks in a row. In fact his single “Who Want It” had to be retired because it consecutively received 100% of the votes.

His single Who Want It, was showcased on 94.1 The Beat and challenged by other up and coming artist. The challengers were no match for the smooth swagger of JB, and eventually the single had to be retired from the challenges and put into regular rotation. After the enormous buzz created by the single, JB decided to release a solo track entitled Hard to Sell. This particular track leaves the listener knowing that JB’s ultimate goal is to provide music that incorporates hard work, dedication, and motivation. And even if you are unfamiliar with the him, you won’t be for long. Currently he has released four underground mixed tapes and will be promoting the new single “She's Gangsta". JB is well on his way to success. He pride themselves with being responsible for his own marketing strategy. Every year for the past three years he has sponsored “The South Cak Outback Festival.” This yearly basketball tournament and car show attracts hundreds every year.
